I have been thinking for a long time to create my own blog. Today seems to be THE day!
The name may be unusual, but is apt. Please read on to find out:
Due to my nature of job, and frequent transfers, I consider myself a gypsy....... Urban Gypsy.
After doing some years of serious RE Bullet riding, my back & a*s have given away, so I was not active for last 3-4 years, and was looking at taking up a new interest. 4X4 off-roading was always fun, but looked like a very expensive hobby, so had stayed clear for a long time.
However, a friend based at Rajasthan took me with him in his Maruti Gypsy to Sariska tour, and that was the beginning of a new love & the desire for getting
actively involved in the off-roading. Did some research thru 'uncle Google' and came across the Northern India Offroad Club (NIOC), a group of very welcoming, fun loving (& experienced) gang of off-roaders. Joined them & attended my first 'Offroad Tour' (OTR) with them in October 2008. It was true fun! Got hooked instantly, and vowed to get active there.It took nearly 8 months to take the next step, of buying my own vehicle, a Maruti Gypsy King (1999). Some of my fellow jeepers have given it the name of 'Jeep-Cee'.......
Thus the blog name, 'Urban Gypsy with a Jeep-Cee'.............. hope it makes sense now!!
The vehicle is under restoration, and I am learning everyday. I will also pen down the learning soon.Hope to keep updating the blog frequently.
